Meet the Farmers

DAVE and EILEEN

Picture

Owners/Farmers

David grew up and has lived on the family farm his entire life, learning to work the ground and respect the land from his parents and grandparents. He learned beekeeping from his grandfather. For many years the farm managed a farrow to finish hog operation until an airborne disease that took down herds across Iowa and Illinois in the 80’s and 90’s, was found in our herd. At that time Dave took a job off the farm in ag production equipment sales. Dave continues to work off the farm performing mechanic work, as well as managing the farm operations and running a bandsaw mill.
Eileen was raised on a 20 acre farm on the outskirts of Aledo, IL, where registered Hereford cattle, Hampshire hogs, rabbits, chickens and pigeons were raised. Her father was a local 4-H leader and encouraged his children to participate in the county fair with their 4-H projects. Her mother and grandmother passed down the fundamentals of home economics and instilled a love of using fresh foods from the garden in everyday cooking and preserving. Eileen assists in planting, takes care of and harvests from the vegetable garden, picks berries and apples, preserving, tends to the farmer’s markets, and takes care of the office work.
